A smoother, safer alternative to Windows for your business.

Linux for Work 2.0 is a managed service from Linnflux that helps companies evaluate, plan, execute, and sustain a switch from Windows to Linux — with full support for Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace.

What is Linux — and why are businesses moving to it?

Linux is the open-source operating system behind most of the internet, Android devices, and the world's supercomputers. As a business desktop, it gives companies a modern, capable alternative to Windows — without per-seat licensing, forced hardware upgrades, or the constant patch cycles that interrupt your team's workday.

Businesses move to Linux to reduce costs, eliminate Windows licensing fees, improve their security posture, and extend the life of existing hardware. We've operated on Linux at Linnflux since 2020 — and we built Linux for Work 2.0 to help other businesses make the same move, with a partner who's done it themselves.

Windows

  • Per-seat OS licensing ($199–$299/device)
  • Forced hardware upgrades (TPM 2.0 for Win 11)
  • Primary target for ransomware and mass malware campaigns
  • Bloatware, telemetry, and update interruptions
  • Vendor lock-in

Linux managed by Linnflux

  • No OS licensing cost
  • Runs on hardware Windows 11 no longer supports
  • Substantially reduced attack surface
  • Clean, focused desktop — no bloat, no telemetry
  • One partner from evaluation through ongoing support

Is Linux right for your business?

The evaluation is quick and honest. We look at your tools and workflows and give you a straight answer — including when Linux isn't the right move.

Strong fit

  • Primary tools are web-based — M365, Google Workspace, Salesforce, QuickBooks Online
  • Looking to reduce licensing costs or IT overhead
  • Want better default security without enterprise spend
  • Running older hardware that Windows 11 no longer supports

Worth evaluating first

  • Rely on specific Windows-only desktop software with no web equivalent
  • Use industry tools that require Windows certification

We check this in the Evaluate phase and tell you upfront. We don't oversell the fit.

Common questions from business owners

Will Office still work?

Yes. Microsoft 365 runs in any modern browser on Linux — Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams all work without the desktop apps. If you need the local apps, we can set up compatible alternatives or keep your team on the web versions.

What about Google Workspace?

Google Workspace works identically on Linux. Drive, Docs, Meet, and Calendar all run in Chrome or Firefox with no compatibility issues whatsoever.

Will we need a new operating system on every machine?

For most teams, yes — Linux replaces Windows on your existing hardware. The good news: Linux runs well on machines that Windows 11 no longer supports, so you may avoid new hardware purchases entirely.

Is Linux really ready for non-technical users?

Modern Linux desktops (like Ubuntu LTS) look and feel close to Windows. We handle all configuration so it's tuned for your team, and we provide training so staff know how to do what they need to do.

How long does a migration take?

A typical small business (5–20 users) takes 4–8 weeks from evaluation through full cutover, done in phases so you're never fully offline at once.

How long does ongoing support work?

Ongoing support is a monthly retainer — you get a dedicated contact, security patching, and helpdesk response. No ticket queues, no runaround.
